I think we will hear more and more about SIS - Self Isolated Senior.
Most of the corona virus deaths have been older/ senior people.
We've given up on all social travel but need to find a solution to the supermarket visits.....
There are some supermarkets which are designating their first hour of business to seniors and disabled so that may be something to look into for your local area.
Colin,
Our local supermarket mentioned this for Pension card holders....
not Senior card holders (the best a Self Funded Retiree can get.)
I need to check it out and see if they do accept Senior Cards.....
SIS here Ken. Might be a very drab few months ahead, but at least there is video talk to the grandkids.
Have you considered food shopping on line? - we were considering it and be interested in opinions. Biggest issue over the next month may be getting a flu shot without getting an unwanted attachment. Keep well.
Already self isolated, as being where I live.
I haven't spoken to another person face to face for 10 days.
A few phone calls,but that's it.
I have to do some shopping soon though.
Delivery is not an option,so may try the early morning pension
route.
Ron, an option for you might be to order online and do a pickup in Nambour. See: https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/d...-online/pickup for example (Coles probably has something similar). At least you can then get in, get the stuff and get out quick.
The suburban 1/4 acre block provides pretty good isolation, at least mine does. Stay indoor neighbours both sides, no one close over the back fence and local traffic only. I could self-isolate here and still be able to walk around the back yard occasionally. I could even get the scope out. If work would just pay me to stay at home I'd be laughing.
I want a suit one that manages radiation so I can use it if we have a melt down close...but it would be good to go shopping in it.
And then there is thing in me that say hey if you get it you will best it and then you don't have to worry anymore...mmm whichever way it goes..it's a win win..but I would survive it I bet.
Alex
Yeah, difficult times...........
Just checking out the Woolies delivery options...........
Hi Ken,
One of their spokespeople the other day was saying they even have drop
options where you don't need to interact with the delivery person.
If you aren't doing it already, it would be prudent to wash your hands
after unpacking the groceries. Likewise, after removing the mail/packages
and periodicals from their envelopes or boxes.
Gary,
In a previous life my wife was a microbiologist....she now has me well trained!!
Unfortunately I think things will get worse before they get better.....
