CPU Temps

Maybe I should ' over clock ' this .... this has happened ( CPU Temp ) since I installed ' water cooling ' with Radiator .

My Computer is 9 years old now .... running a 1st Generation i72600k

I have not run a liquid cooling setup for ages but saw the same thing, more or less CPU a degree or two above the ambient, all day, every day.

I need to build myself an image processing PC sometime soonish, reckon water cooling will get the nod again for that one. I made the mistake of doing a mosaic process on my wifes machine (that I built for her a year or so ago, one step back from the bleeding edge of the time) and realised just how slow my current machine is, and I can't do big mosaics due to lack of memory for APP, and cant get big enough modules to make a memory upgrade worthwhile either, too old and 1.65V DDR3 is a bit of a dead duck.

Modern CPUs are quite power efficient when not doing much (most of the times) and do not generate much heat.

Try loading the CPU (run prime95 for example) and see how high the temperatures go then.

OK, Test Done .... Pic's show it all ...!!
I ran the p95 Software for 1/2 hour

The 3rd pic is CPU Temp under stress test ... reached 57* C
Last pic is CPU after test .... back down to 28* C

Computer ' hummed ' away nicely during test .... no BSD or Freezing Up .... Water Cooler Radiator didn't ' boil '

All's well ....!!

Those are some good numbers.
Plenty of overhead, if you decide to try overclocking :-)

You have a bit of overhead left and water cooling wont be an issue but check what the throttling temp is for that chip , i am guessing around 70-80c newer chips cope a little better . I have been running water cooling for a few years and it really is great and quiet , my new machine really can put out some heat OC with 8/16 cores but only hits 65 tops under full load.

I ran another test ....

1st pic is Idle Temp .... highest @ 28*C ( 4 Core CPU )

2n pic is Stress Test

3rd pic is CPU Temp under stress ... highest being 64*C

4th pic shows Thermal Stability during stress test.

5th pic is CPU Temp back at idle .... highest being 33*C

6th pic .... put the CPU up to run @4GHz

If you want a ' small ' programme to find out the ' real temp ' of your CPU ....it doesn't need installing , it's ' self running '

https://www.techpowerup.com/download...rup-real-temp/

I put my CPU up to 4GHz for about 1hr ..... ran like a ' Swiss Watch '
