Our 10yo Neice Tiarna has a love for anything about space, recently she gave a 3 minute talk to her school class about Galaxies, interstellar dust and dark matter, so last night we suprised her with a gift of a telescope, with tears of joy she could only say WOW.
The scope named the "Tiarna Troy Telescope" with matching customised "TTT" stickers for the scope and all accessories .
8 inch GSO Dob with GSO wideview eyepieces, modded with a flocked tube, red dot finder, dew shields, locking scope wheels, observing mat and solid base, gas lift observing chairs, custom scope transport trolley, tool box with tools starmaps and astro software and photos for her computer.
First light we viewed:
Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Sirrius, Alpha Centauri, Antares, Acrux, Jewel Box,
Eta Carina Nebula, Taranula Nebula, Omega Centauri Star Cluster, Centaurus A Galaxy.
( during daylight we viewed a Qantas Boeing 747 with me tracking it in the finderscope while she viewed it close up with the scope, we might try the same technique with the ISS next time)
I think now she will spend a lot more of her time viewing the wonders of the night sky.
