ZWO ASI224MC FITS Files in mono only

Hi All,

Using my ZWO ASI224MC for the first few times; have read the manual to death for the camera, ASICAP, Sharpcap & Firecap.

Trying to capture images in 16bit raw FITS format because the other option is JPEG or PNG which are quite lossy & both DSS & Startools like FITS.

However, every image I capture in FITS format displays on the monitor in colour but, saves in Mono... I am tearing my hair out.. can anyone shed light on what I am missing please..

Thankyou

The FITS files my ASI182 outputs are mono, because they haven't been debayered or demosaiced - the mono file has the data within for the three colour channels that needs software to combine them properly.

Go into the "Raw/FITS DDP" settings menu in DSS and on the FITS tab make sure it is selected and your cams debayering pattern is selected.

Thanks Guys,

I am making some small progress with some testing...

It appears that if I capture in Raw8, the files are greyscale; captured in Raw16 they show up in DSS when you import them as RGB...

I did some testing in my study last night with the camera fitted with it's wideview lens....

Stacked 8 images & had some weak colour in their but, colour no less. I assume with further processing in Startools & then Affinity Photo (similar to Photoshop) that I will be able to draw out more colour?

Progress at least & a leap in understanding what this camera does...

Thankyou
