Dusty Orion Mosaic
I'm planning a 9 panel mosaic of Orion that encompasses the pot of pan of the saucepan, the handle requires a fair bit more work
So far I'm four panels in and reasonably happy with here I'm at so far. I've got a little under 2 hours per panel at the moment and I've also added in the original 2.5 hours centred on M42.
Processing is still very basic, after mosaic construction I've just fiddled with the histogram, some quick noise reduction and saturated until I've JUST gone overboard

Woaaa .... the amount of data must be enormous.
And processing all that
Looks fantastic!
Is the cam you using modified, cooled?

Thanks Mick. It is currently at 9.4 hours (113x300s ISO400) spread out over 5 panels. Ideally, I am hoping to get about 50 hours in the 9 panels over the next few months.
I wish it was modded and cooled! Alas, I am just using my stock standard Nikon D810. Astro last night, landscape and macro this afternoon

"I wish it was modded and cooled!"
Not sure about the Nikon, I did moded my Canon 1100D and highly recommend... if you have other cam for daylight.
Full spectrum mod and 'squeezed' a thin copper foil between the sensor and PCB, jammed to the sensor with mica used for transistor insulation.
Then the copper foil bend-around and pressed against a two stage Peltier unit salvaged from an old Meade CCD .... can achieve -10deg, but can fog up. Heater for sensor's front later... too many other projects

I'd prefer getting a QHY367 than modding

Need to get some shorter subs and create a HDR. It's on my to-do list

A pearler of a image, look forward to the finished mosaic. Love wide field images of the Orion region, what a start to the season with this beauty

Thanks Rick, I could probably fit more in just doing QHY163M + 135mm

Thanks, at this stage I'm planning on getting as much data as I can on it next new moon and then I'll probably move onto something else.

I'm quite happy with the D810, I am very tempted to get a QHY367 for wide field cooled Ha responsive version of it

Don't change a thing !
Anyone can take a photo of the Trapezium or the core of M42. Here is an excellent photo of super-faint starlight reflected off the dust clouds.
HDR is a trick whose ultimate end is a piece of uniform grey paper. Stick to your guns.
