New GStar-Ex2. I can't get an image

Greetings

I just got a Gstar-Ex to display a star field from my Meade 105pe. All I can seem to get is a gray screen. I have entered into menu and tried playing with the settings but to no avail. It seems to me that there is not enough light getting in. I pointed the scope directly at a bright star. If I cover the front of the scope and there is no difference. If I get my torch and shine it in, the screen does go white. Can anyone give me some pointers or help on this. I have to get this going by 19 May for a demonstration in Sydney. I am in Newcastle so if anybody is able to help me out or instruct me, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi Angelo,

Sounds like you're not getting your scope to focus onto the CCD. Have you varied your focus over its full range from one extreme to another? You don't have to wait until night to do this. You can set up your scope with the camera during the day and try and focus something. You won't need any sense up, the AGC will look after it.

Certainly sounds like a focus issue. Try during the day on a distant terrestrial object starting with the sort of settings in the manual for moon and planets. Once you have got the scope in focus, you should find that everything is fine at night.

Let me know how you get on - I can help troubleshoot more if it is still an issue.
