South east Oz sundogs & halo alert!

Hi all,

The current icy conditions sweeping over NSW, Victoria and Tassie brings with it the good chance of Sundogs and Sun halo being visible!

A Sun halo could be visible at any time.

Sundogs usually form from a couple of hours before sunset. With Sundogs, a halo, Parry's arc and a circumzenithal arc could also be visible.

The pic below is of Sundogs that made an appearance a few years ago from my home in Sydney. The "saturn" like patch above the Sun is an internal reflection in the camera.

Keep an eye out on the sky and a camera handy!

Alex.
