Recent Lunar Sketches

Hello all at Australian Amatuer Astronomy.

I was looking for tonights terminator report and stumbled over your site. I find it difficult to locate online reports of the current lunar terminator as I sketch it often and contribute to the Cloudy Nights Astronomy Forums for discussion of the sketch art in the USA site.

I'll leave you with a recent one that placed 1st for the month of May 09 and also won over the recent photography. (At bottom) of the 3 that I posted. I do not see a memory limit for images. All three here are on either Strathmore Artagain 19" X 25" black pastel paper or Stonehenge 20" X 32" black paper (The image "Light Shaft at Grimaldi Crater" and artists conception from the surface) and all are sketchd with dry pastel chalks. See my Cloudy Nights Forums Gallery for details at >

If I am not in the right forum for posting sketch art, will someone let me know? Is there a members gallery to hold images here at AAA?

Thanks, Mark Seibold, Portland Oregon USA

Mark Seibold sketch art previous post

To all

I thought the art image would post with a direct link from a photo hosting site. Not sure of the URL to use, I see it only shows the URL link and not the image. Is that the correct procedure here? Or should I use an HTML URL to post the actual art images?

Thanks again for any info,

Mark

Daniel- Thanks for the compliments on my art and info. I am wondering of there is a specific forum here in AAA for posting sketch art made from observation.

Thanks again for any info,

Mark

Hi Mark
They're brilliant sketches, you're very talented.

You can post them in the solar system forum?

You can attach them using "Manage attachments" button when you start a new thread or "Go Advanced" when replying.

Welcome to IIS!

Daniel and Markus -

THanks for the compliments.
This is the most recent; a collage of several images I sketched in a large pastel format of 22" X 30" of the gibbous moon on Tuesday night. I spent 3 hours at the eyepiece and finished the abstract lunar lanscape indoors later. - Mark

I am posting first with html then direct linked url but I do not see the image come up.

Thanks Mike for the compliments and info but I am a little disoriented here being new. I have not learned the posting procedures yet. I am quite adept at the Cloudy Nights Forums on the states. I see the image here as a direct link but when I post it only displays the url link in my message. Thanks again for any info. -Mark
