Yes I have wondered about that aspect.
The fire passes rather quickly but the smoke is hard to manage thats for sure.

Put it this way:

All domestic electronics fried.

No electricity - all the utilities systems will have been fried. Along with the phone network and mobile networks and internet. No gas either as the equipment supplying you will be fried.

No running water unless you’re a DIY with a rainwater tank.

Cars built after 1980 will have had the electronics fried.

Suffice to say unless you are self sufficient living in the boondocks on acreage, you have about 4 days, a week at max. Two or three maybe if you have a big bag of rice tucked away and some tinned foods.

By the second week if you’re still alive you’ll be defending whatever you have at gunpoint from gangs determined to take it by any means - and they will.

By 3 weeks 90% will be dead either by dehydration or starvation - or murdered.

The rest... well ... between disease and radiation sickness ... if you call that survival.. no thanks.

Assuming there's no electricity and the streetlights are out I would enjoy the dark sky for as long as I could.

If I was still alive I'd use my telescopes to beat away the zombies.

Recommenced where it left off about 8 years ago with America trying to re-asserts it's idiotic global imperialism.

On the other hand, if someone has to assert global imperialism, I’d much rather it were someone with at least a similar modus operandi to us and the rest of the western world. Preferable to life under Russian or Chinese control imo!

'"The Road" I believe bleakly sums up our end game pretty well, be it from small stuff (nuclear ) or a big long period comet slamming us , extreme volcanism, its all going to end badly .
The movie adaption of The Road was pretty hard watching, I got halfway through the novel and it was to much for me.

Reminds me of when I was in Japan last year for 3 months, I left a week after I had been hearing all the North Korea talk and how Japan was at risk. Woke up on the second night around midnight to what sounded like a loud air raid siren. I was convinced a nuke was on its way. Googled "Japan North Korea" and some news showed up like "Japan would have 8 minutes till missile reaches" or something. This just confirmed it for me haha, sure got the adrenaline going...
