Nice Tony. That's not a very bright object - according to my calculations based on Alex's thread on surface brightness etc. And I had a lot of trouble with it last year
Another object that is similar it the Witches Head nebula, NGC 1909, in Eriandus, just off Rigel. I've tried on many occasions to try to spy out some of the faint nebulosity, but so far it has eluded me,
Thanks Chris and Alex x 2. It is faint with barely anything showing up on my 5 minute subs (see attached). The star clusters and background are pretty.
It seems the Witches Head is within range of a dslr so I might give it a shot.
I dont know you guys with your fancy DSLR cameras capturing stuff I cant even find☺.
I still cant plate solve and invoke my old memory of where things are and that combined with years of playing pool is the only way I find stuff☺.
I must say I like sharpcap mainly because I can turn the gain right up and even with only say 2 seconds exposure determine that I have found the object I am after☺.
So good for centering things.
I must spend a night getting things to work but as time is so precious I find I dont work on problems such as getting guiding working properly or getting plate solving working.
