Ten year old EQ6 is worth?

I have one of the early, the white one that came before the black ones, and I am considering getting a new mount.
What is an old mount like mine worth on the second hand market?

Hi Alex,

You could try the for sale archives on the forum and search for "EQ6" looking for SOLD marked threads to get an idea. Of course you will have to factor out some results depending on your exact model.

Best

My goodness why did they think Black was a good idea to colour a mount. Good Grief. 😂

Nothing in fact I have done a lot of work on it to make it rather flash...
When it is aligned and trained it runs rather well unguided.

It needs another pull down as I have things too tight such that dec wont move☺ but real tight seems to give better results...for me...but a back off is needed.

Its a great mount but then I am easily pleased given the mounts that I used prior to it.

Hi AL

Welcome.

In astronomy I do think black is best particularly in astrophotography.

I have painted the inside of my observatory box "the cube" black all to minimise stray light.

One day I may go completly nuts and paint the mount black with particular attention to the chrome bits...we dont notice but when you think about it stray photons are everywhere...

Again welcome.
