Any professional modders?

I want to mod my camera and before I break it I thought I would ask..I there any folk here who do such work professionally (i.e. do a good job for a professional fee).
If so would you be prepared to mod my camera? And an estimate of the cost.
Thank you
Alex

I have modded several Canon 450Ds, full spectrum, cooling, even a mono version. It is not too hard to do the mod yourself, i suggest you read Gary Honis' excellent web pages on modding Canons.

http://dslrmodifications.com/

I would be happy to provide advice but my days of modding are probably over. I recommend you purchase a magnifying lamp, the kind with a curcular flouro with a magnifier lense in the middle. They are essential in my opinion for seeing all the small ribbon connections etc inside the camera.

Hi Glen
Thank you very much.
I think it would be a challenge but I will try if I can't find anyone.

Alex, there is a camera shop in George Street, Sydney, that used to do filter removals for $150 plus postage. I can't recall which one it was but maybe someone else here will remember. You coukd try some searches here for dslr mod.

+1 with Glen, trust Gary Honis - he has great detailed instructions with pics of everything. I bought a sensor-less 450D in bits from Glen, then got an aliexpress sensor for it which I modded. Works great. I've also modded a 550D. You just need reasonable eyes, hands not too shaky, and nerve (or a cheapish camera).

Apparently some cameras are easier to do than others? And if you can get cheap replacement sensors for your camera, even better

Yes, to remove the IR filter (from 450D, 400D) as per Gary Honis website is easy job to do.

After doing that, in order to use moded camera with my Canon 400mm f/2.8, I found out that I need some sort of IR-block filter.
The one mentioned on GH website is not good (Rocolax), it blocks too much of Halpha (at least the one I was sent), so I went to LenOpTec website (via Alibaba) and purchased excellent one (actually two samples, cut to custom size) for fraction of the price asked by Baader Planetarium.
I tested it and the results were excellent, see thread here:

Thanks for all the input gentlemen but thanks to a kind offer from a member I will be getting it done and that is great because frankly the job is probably beyond me.
