Exclamation NGC 2477 - "The Electric Guitar Cluster" - Presented in Cinemascope

As it's been unprecedentedly clear for the past 4-5 nights in Melbourne, I've been able to add two more panels to my previous post.

This now gives this wave of Ha some much needed room to move - it's big too - NGC 2477 contains over 300 stars, and according to the link is known as "The Electric Guitar Cluster".

This field is already 2.3 x8 degrees and the wave stretches all the way to the Vela SNR. (Anyone up for a mega mosaic? )

It's also very close to the Ha mountain in Puppis imaged earlier, so I miiiight add those extra 2-3 panels to join up to it - you can see the proposed field in the Galaxy map survey attached.

I've also got a big new 'scope that's wants to come out & play, so maybe no more mosaic-ing this year!

Baked in APP, aligned in Registar & finished off with a touch of PS.
I'm pretty happy with the mix of star colours too, considering it taken under the full moon with the LP at home in suburban Melbourne.

New improved CINEMASCOPE version is here.

Cheers all

PS: Must learn to automate Meridian flips, these 3am ones are a killer 5 nights in a row!

Lovely looking bit of sky that Andy, the whole area is full of this, nice job One thing though, there is plenty of (brownish) dust all around there too, so some Lum and/or more RGB might help bring that out..?

Cheers Mike - I havn't had much success doing LRGB from home to date - and I have a short trip planned to the country next week with the 10" so I'm all done on this one for now - maybe next year Ill do that mega mosaic and join up these regions - mind you - you could probably get it all in a single frame with your W/F setup though

Yep, agreed, the less trodden path does bring rich rewards.
Got a couple of more conventional targets in mind for next week's trip out to the country with the 10" though - stay tuned
