Canon 7D Mark II release today? (make that the 70D)

http://www.canonrumors.com/ continues to claim more 7D Mk II information.

They are hinting that something will be released today - 2nd July. I wonder?

They have supposed pictures of the new camera and specs:

Canon EOS 70D Specifications

20.2mp CMOS Sensor
DIGIC 5+
19pt AF System (All Cross Type)
7fps
Built-in WiFi
3″ Vari-Angle Touch Screen LCD
ISO 12,800 Maximum
Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus
Full HD Video
HDR
Multiexposure Mode
LP-E6 Battery
Announcement on July 2, 2013

Of course I'm interested because I'm on the verge of buying a 6D but my disklike for it's buttons and focusing capabilities has me hanging in the balance...

Thanks Roger, the (alleged) specifications look good. Probably won’t upgrade my original 7D just yet though.

Cheers

The specs look OK but to be honest the one thing which matters to me is noise/high ISO performance The specs don't indicate any improvement upon the current model in that regard, so will need some testing evidence.

The two spec components so far I like the most are WiFi and fold-out screen.

If I could get WiFi + better high ISO performance in my otherwise same 7D I'd be very happy

Hi Roger

You may already be aware of this, but Camranger offers some WiFi functionality, albeit for approx. US $300.

CamRanger is a stand-alone device that connects to select Canon or Nikon DLSR cameras with a provided USB cable. It creates an ad-hoc WiFi network that your device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, or Mac or Windows computer) can then connect to. The free CamRanger app then enabled control of the camera. There is no need for a computer or existing Internet connection.”

Cheers

Dennis

Interesting, thanks for that Dennis. Probably not something I will spend $300 on for my current camera but nice to have in a new camera

There is a 70D announcement.

Either I mis-read 7D as 70D, or it has since been changed, I'm not sure. The specs I quoted below are now listed as being for the "70D".

Review/preview of 70D: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PROD...canon-70dA.HTM

Not the camera for me. Still waiting for that 7D mk II

From what I had read earlier elsewhere on the Interwebs, the 7D Mark II won't be released until next year.

Agreed, it seems I screwed up by misreading 70d as 7D.

Looks like its definitely down to the 5D3 or 6D for me. I can't wait 6+ months.
