October 20th Luna Halo

Cloudy last nigh but the inclement conditions and the waxing lunar crescent provided this photo opportunity.

October 22nd AstroPhoMo

Thanks Laurie and Carlos for your feedback.

Managed to grab this shot of the quarter moon upon getting home from work this evening at 11pm. A quick setup with a WO 70mm refractor mounted onto a tripod and the 300D into prime focus.

7 x 1/200th second frames at 200 ISO aligned and stacked in Nebulosity.

25th October Waxing Gibbous

Terrible terrible clouds and rain for the past few days but Midnight last night brought a break, enough around the moon anyway, and I took about 26 frames and aligned and stacked them.

26th October

Another Moon shot. Slim pickings with lots of cloud at the moment but I am learning a bit about taking and processing lunar shots. For this shot I sacrificed a little of the contrast around the mare to enhance the detail along the terminator. Also after aligning and stacking in Nebulosity I played around with the wavelet functions in Registax to enhance the finer spatial detail.

28th October

Discovered this thing in my kit that has fallen into disuse over the last few years and that is a 2 inch 2x barlow and combined with the 400mm FL WO Refractor it filled the FOV of the 300D just nicely so no need to crop the image.

41 frames aligned and stacked and auto offset in Nebulosity and and soft wavelet adjustment in Registax.

29th October

The end of October beckons but not before I slip in a couple of moonlit shots with the full moon looming behind the shots.

Firstly a panorama with a passing vehicle (light trail in the left of the image) and the a view to East with Scorpius in view.

Also last night, 28th, a crappy cloudy night with a very ordinary rendition of NGC104. Not too bad maybe given the cloud and just 8 unguided 1 minute frames.
