TeleVue 4x Powermate + T-Ring

This has probably been used 3 times in the past 6 years and once in the past four years. I keep telling myself that I’ll use it for some planetary imaging and I’ve been telling myself that for 5 long years. I did it once out of curiosity with my D810 on my 4” F/9 a few weeks back and found that I had to use a 2” diagonal to achieve focus.

Considering that I can either do 3600mm imaging with the 4x and a 4” or 2500mm at much higher contrast with a 10”, I’m finally deciding that I’ll probably never use this again.

Having spent years sitting idly in a box waiting to be used it is in as very good condition.
Used once visually at 2,220x mag with a non acclimatised 10” LX200 before I had an understanding of maximum magnification on planets and the need for a telescope to cool Needless to say the views of Saturn and Jupiter were not that impressive, HUGE but very soft.

$400 posted for the 4x Powermate and T-Ring adapter.

4 X powermate

Colin,
Have you tried it on your Mewlon 210.

I did on my 210 and in good seeing a Canon 60Da gave a nice Saturn.

I have a Mewlon 250 that I haven’t tried it on but at F/48 it would be too over sampled for my camera anyway. I’d be better off with a 2x Powermate.

Hi Colin,

Pardon the dumb question, but this is the 2” with the 1.25” insert?
