Apogee acquired by Andor

No idea if this is a good or a bad thing. "Extracting synergies" is usually code for layoffs, but hopefully they will find other ways to cut costs.

worrying - Andor really know how to charge for their gear. Would be nice if they moved some of their professional low read noise technology into the AP world though. Thanks for posting. regards ray

SBIG being bought out was a good thing for SBIG. Look at the expanded range of cameras they brought out after that. They have a very complete range of cameras and accessories now that they seemed to be struggling to get out beforehand.

to be honest i had no idea - so i enquired for a solar imager camera - when i got off the floor with the 20k pricetag without software...OK its a different game in that category but the camera was cooled and the output was 90fps for a 2.8M cam. even the cheap cameras are dear (when compared to an IS camera)
