Rosette Nebula duo band

This one is the Rosette, well placed at the moment. I managed to get nearly 5h in 5min subs on the night of better seeing which was Saturday.

I did a crop of the core and the interesting bits:
1:1 here [2117x2304 - 2.16MB]
HD here [1920x2090 - 1.74MB]

and the full field:
1:1 here [4647x34590 - 7.71MB]
HD here [1920x1429 - 1.41MB]

Enjoy the views.

That's excellent Marc. Wide enough field to get the whole thing; very sharp resolution; nice contrast. Top shelf.

Thanks guys. Yeah it came together surprisingly well. I wasn't expecting that level of details. I haven't done anything different. Probably the conditions must have been pretty good that night. This run happened overnight and I was in bed. Maybe I should do that more often and leave the rig alone.

You've got some great detail going on there Marc! Excellent! Are you planning any RGB?

Thanks Marcus. I should have used the QHY8 which is an OSC for this. I realised after after I was set up. I might use these as a "LUM" and quickly shoot some Oiii and Ha separately for color.

That is absolutely superb Marc

The dendrils (gas whatevers) near the core in 1:1 crop can almost talk, with their sharp focus/detail set off against the smoother background gas, almost like a portrait photographer would isolate the subject by shooting wide open. Very cool- must try / do one day.

Best
JA

Thanks a lot JA. Yes those boks are pretty dark and defined in front of the background neb. Heaps of little ones in the FOV. It's the first time I saw so many in my Rosette shots.

Heaps of boks. Spectacular detail. The Rosette was just in the right location as you say on Saturday and I tried a few images. Great to see what it looks like in your images with some quality hours.

Thanks Ray. Yeah it's conveniently placed right now. With the RA extension on the G11 I can also pick it up earlier east of the meridian so I don't have to flip and can go to bed.

Thanks mate Not sure what mixing RGB with a NB lum would do. Might look a bit funky. I think I'll stick to the original Oiii and Ha bandpass for the red and blue channels.
