Yep. I'm with Clive - sucky clouds preventing me from unleashing the power of the fully operational death-star...
Maybe tomorrow- are you up for a session Thursday night?
We had much better than average seeing in Melbourne last night too ... Mars showing lots of surface details, ice cap, structure and shape in the dark regions. Saturn showing sharp surface details, great view of the dark polar region as well as the main equatorial band plus hints of more.
started in the triangle between Mars, Saturn and Antares and spent a few hours exploring that region, then slowly across to the southern cross and ETA Carinae etc.
to close out I spent an hour or so looking for galaxies towards the northern parts of the skies. saw a couple of wisps in Leo and TRIED to find Markarians Chain, but didn't have much luck.I'm still wondering if i DID see a couple of galaxies or if I tried so hard that i THOUGHT i saw something...
I still need to work on my technique with averted vision and going back to the iPad to reference charts on Skysafari probably didn't help my night vision either...
BUT.......a great night nonetheless. I can't wait for my DGM filters to get here and see some of the nebulas with the filters in place!!
Looks like the start to another great night.. and i dont start till 7am lol.. so i can spend a few hours under the stars. and hopefully get a few images in.
