Who, Where, and When in 2018

Its always hard to coordinate with others on our Astro trips and events, so i am starting this thread to put up my travel plans (for those who might be interested in joining me, or avoiding me).

February New Moon, Bretti is not looking good weather wise but i will be there if it clears up and stays below 35C in the daytime (it can be hell at 40C).

March, New Moon week I am committed to the Tak Attack at Coolah.

April i will be travelling in Qld, and may attend the Ben Lomond Star Party or Glen Riddle for the New Moon period. Will be avoiding school holiday crowds if possible, which means Bretti is out.

May, i will be going to the South Pacific Star Party at Wiruna (first time), 10-13 May.

June un-committed astro wise at this time,

July, considering Star Stuff II at Byron Bay first weekend, then maybe Bretti for the New Moon

August, all of this month i am in Qld, I will be at Qld Astrofest for the entire 10 days, then at Mission Beach till month end.

September onward is un-committed so far.

Looking forward to getting away this year.

What will you be doing?

With the weather the way it is I’m not doing any astro trips, waste of time imho until we get another drought. Bring on a year of blisteringly clear blue skies and Id think otherwise.

Thanks Glen for putting it out there.
Good to see someone has sorted their life out. Retirement and no family obligations does help.
I am in between astronomy goals. I have to sell some things such as a Kyack to build up a $ reserve. I will then probably purchase something like a Star Adventurer or an EQ Mount so I can at least mount my DSLR and track some nightscapes. Would get me into stacking and post processing at least. I am doing a lot of background reading in Astrophotography.
I still have my 8" mirror that I polished, sitting in a box with no solution at this stage.

Glen, looking forward to meeting you at Coolah in March, and then again at the SPSP in May. Just look for the bald, but not so green little man and you will know its me!
