My heart goes out to the poor sods at the coalface who have to stack this crap. I remember stacking shelves as a Uni job in the late 90's and hearing it all day from customers...

January - "wha? Easter already?"
September - "It's not christmas yet"

Thankfully we didn't flood the shops with Chinese plastic Aussie flags prior to Australia Day - that came later.

I'd love to know where these bright ideas originated. Anyone here "higher up" the industry care to enlighten us?

marketing... thousands upon thousands of new grads with marketing degrees hit the streets every year and apparently it’s our own fault as it’s wot we demand...stop swiping those loyalty cards!

Sigh

Pity those staff who have to re-wrap these every year to ensure a saleable "use by date". I swear some have been on the shelf since 1987.........

I was in my local fruit n veg and deli this afternoon when I noticed a sign that read
"Winter is here. Gourmet muesli and porridge."
I suspect in this case it (the sign but hopefully not the product) had been there since last winter.

I suspect the idea is that you eat this lot now and buy another lot (or two or three) before Easter.

Obviously people are buying it, otherwise they wouldn't put it out there.
I saw the same in my local Coles and they are going like hot cross buns

Hi All,

I know what you mean! There's still 23 days until Pancake Day, yet they've had eggs, flour, milk and butter at the supermarket for months!

We eat seasonally, food that would be available as part of the normal seasonal variation. We also apply that rule to other foodstuffs and we'll buy Hot X buns from a local bakery when the time comes. REAL Hot X buns, not these doughy mass produced blobs that should not be there,

Marketing kids should be restrained in straitjackets or muzzled or something..

I think if you get your easter carp early and keep it in the bath until April it will flush out the mud and they're good to eat.

Woollies had hot cross buns in the store room freezer prior to Christmas ready to be put out on Boxing day. "We are the fresh food people".
