Retired
I have just retired. My darling wife asked me this morning what my plans for the day are. I replied..nothing. She then said..didn't you do that yesterday. I replied..Yes, but I never quite got finished..
Cheers Reverend.

When's the weekend?
Wishing you a long and happy retirement. For me I'll stick my two days per week in the office, three days per week working from home.
All the best!

Tis a great feeling
Good for you. I am 4 years retired and the novelty of workday freedom has not dimmed. In case you get harassed, I will pass on one of walking mates favorite sayings - don't put off till tomorrow what you can leave till next week.

My motto since retiring was something written about cats that my wife had stuck on the wall,
"How sweet it is to do nothing......and then to rest afterwards"

Don't you worry, there will soon be a list a mile long on the fridge .......
get used to hearing "now that you're doing nothing can you fix this..."
I retired in 2012 and haven't missed work at all ........
Congratulations, enjoy

List, well mine does, so I like to get them over with quickly so I can do important things, like watching cricket, reading, contemplating etc etc. But the strange thing is the quicker I get the list done, the longer the next one is. Solution, Get a shed, take the list out with you, pick something from the list do then do what you want to but keep a very sharp ear out for her approach. If you hear the SWMBO pick up what you supposed to be doing, Result happiness all around!!!!

May I suggest that you include exercise in your day.
One can drift to less physical activity and exercise helps you still stay fit.

So, have the wives always been like that or is this some change that happens when a married man retires?
I've never married but it will happen in a couple of years. < me today n every day.

Many wives do see it as their last big chance to finally undertake a supervisory role, no matter that their husbands may well have supervised far more people during their careers.

Retired
Whats this, get rid of the fridge! where's the beer going to keep cold and interesting, you know that alcohol is a stimulant which would enable recently retired people to carry out the tasks on the said list which spouse are so kind enough to supply so that we will not become idle and bored.

Enjoy your retirement Reverend.
If all goes well I've only got 5 years and 5 months to go.

Congratulations - I have a retired friend that I play golf with every week. He allows me to enjoy my weekends but when there is a public holiday he cries fowl as he has to share his retirement with everyone!

It's now 2.25 years since I retired, just in time to be diagnosed with cancer. I've spent much of that time going to medical appointments, or scheduling the next appointment.
We did fit in five weeks in Europe between the first and second lot of surgery.
If you are thinking of overseas travel do it now. In a few years you'll find medical insurance hard to get. Mum's trip to the US to visit her sister cost more in insurance than the rest of the trip put together. Admittedly she was 88 at the time.
