Thanks for the pics Col, I enjoyed them!
I love the Dreamliners, especially Thai Airways , they look so angelic, it's my favourite, next ones are the 777-3 & A380. I have the Thai Airways 787-8 and Etihad 787-9 fly over my house around 2,000ft and I shoot them regularly with my telephoto lens, they're so photogenic with those graceful wings. The Etihad comes through during golden hour, it looks magnificent! I call her my Sunset Princess and the Thai one Drama Queen because she often puts on a show of condensation for me . Oh and I also have a nickname for Thai's #HS-TQC.... "Spooky" (pics of it below), she seems to put on most of the condensation displays.

Also a close-up of its underneath of a very grubby HS-TQA. Of the six that flyover daily this the only grubby one, others are pristine.

Beautiful on the outside, no fun on the inside. Note how the wing tip tries to emulate that of an eagle to minimise wing tip vortices.

We went to Maui at Xmas and paid a little extra for first class on the island hop from Honolulu - got treated like royalty by the staff (which felt weird)and like interlopers by the other first class passengers; one group of snobs even que jumped us. We'll have to practice holding our noses up and get some brand name clothes next time

One thing I love about the 787 is the higher (read: adequate) humidity provided in the cabin for passengers. Rather than desiccate the air (for the safety, functionality, and longevity of the plane and it's systems), the 787's cabin moisture is a lot more natural.

On our semi yearly trips to Japan, I would, like clockwork, throw up when I got to my Folks' house. Since Jetstar changed to 787's for this leg, no such trouble. I don't know how much this aspect matters to others (or even if it's medically provable), but it's made a world of difference to me

Thanks Col, they come from the west along with the evening Emirates 777-9 so I'm very lucky .
There's a planespotters area at the Brisbane Airport called The Loop if you're able to get out there. Such a great spot- there's even a mini park area giving shelter under a huge tree right there near the fence line. I go there for the day with my banana lounge, picnic rug, food, camera gear and music etc and have a ball. And if nature calls I know exactly which aviation building to head for a little walk away, cause you wanna stretch your legs by then for a bit of walk . I love that walk, just being around the hub of it all. I grab the schedule online from the airport and check it against FR24 for certain liveries.

Andy- Hi , the Dreamliner is supposed to help reduce jet lag.
I haven't been lucky enough to board one yet but apparently a few of those features include pumping extra oxygen into the cabin, the lights change to emulate day and night, larger windows so you can see the horizon better and a decent sized entrance in length when you board, giving your brain time to adjust from the hustle and bustle of the airport to then ... relax.
That's so interesting what you said, it seems it works.

Hi Suzy, I didn't know about the oxygen aspect. These are a damn nice plane to be a passenger in. The ceiling is high enough, with calming RGB leds to change the tone of the space during rest times. The windows have an electronic darkening layer, much like a welder's mask. Cabin crew shut them all down in the late afternoon to promote sleep. You can see the Sun dead on, at their darkest setting.

The engine noise seems much less also, at least at the very last row which we always pre-book. Though it's been a few years since we've taken an A330. I suspect the front area would be a whole order better.

I guess different people handle longish trips in various ways. Having done around 12+ trips to Japan (7hrs), I couldn't easily go back to the A330 environment.

Love those wingtips and the corrugations around the engines.
Increased humidity would be great as I often feel like a desiccated coconut after a long flight. Thanks for all the info guys

Unfortunately, never flown in a 787, albeit the comfort in Economy is not very good in some airlines.

But the A380... I like that plane, I flew it many times with Emirates, and will do so again next February to Brisbane.
A very spacious cabin, even in Economy and enough legroom despite my almost 2m height.

I took these photos of the 380s of airlines with a Q with my telephoto lens.

We returned last night from a trip to Europe, flying with Etihad, Paris to Abu Dhabi on the A380-800 and Abu Dhabi to Brisbane on the B787-9. I prefer the 787 as the Airbus planes always seem so noisy. The on-board bar on the A380 is a nice touch though

I really like the last pic . City as a backdrop paired up with A320 for comparison.
