Aurora 15th

Its been too long since I posted on here, I have been busy with my night time photography as well as a new addition to the family.

Anyway I thought I would post my efforts from Saturday night, I was a little late to the party but caught the proton arc

These shots were taken at Lake Burrumbeet about 20 mins out of Ballarat

Oh all you WA people I'll be over your side of the country in a couple of weeks and wondered if any of you would have any tips on locations if another aurora hits, feel free to PM me I'll be staying down busselton way for about a week.

Cheers

Matt

Fabulous. Terrific composition with the aurora being the secondary subject. I think it works best like that in nightscapes.

Are you able to bring up the foreground out of shadow more in the first one? I think that area a bit brighter would lift the image to proper primary and secondary subjects.

Greg.

Awesome images Matt. I was lucky enough to be in Tasmania that weekend for the aurora australis and night sky festival. I had persistent cloud but the aurora was bright enough that I could see it through the cloud (pics coming soon) The proton arc was directly overhead for me.
