International Moon night

International Observe the Moon Night is an annual event that encourages observation, appreciation, and understanding of our Moon. Everyone on Earth is invited to observe the Moon, whose beautiful glow is thanks to reflected light from the Sun! It was on Sept 19th. Here is my contribution - single exposure taken at prime focus thru a 10" SCT with a canon 550d. Thanks for viewing.

Eclipse Preparations

I decided to take a break from getting my 8" LX200 setup for robotic use and image the coming eclipse. I did get a few images last night of the moon and will try and get enough images for a mosaic tonight. My plan is to shoot a mosaic of the eclipse. For some reason I have really enjoyed doing these mosaics. My equipment is a Celestron 6" refractor on a Sirius mount. I use a laptop, EQMOD and a generic game controller for an XBox to control the scope. The camera is an Orion Starshoot IV Planetary Camera using Sharpcap 2.5 from Celestron. I use Registax 6 and Maxim DL 5 to process everything. These images are stacks consisting of around 500-800 images.
