I just read this post ....127.0.0.1 is ' local host file ' as mentioned
Years ago, I would add to the ' host file ' to prevent some software ' phoning home ' .... loop back to 127.0.0.1 .....which is for all intent and purpous would be a Computer not connected to the Internet.

For those struggling with it, it says stay at home, wear a mask

They are references to computer networking.
127.0.0.1 is localhost i.e. where you are
255.255.255.0 is a subnet mask, which limits the "space" that a computer can see without leaving "home"

(PS sorry Lewis, it was looking too painful )
