I found them glitzy, bling, and of little substance. Quite disappointed. I guess totally geared to the American spoon feed market.

Sagan's left me with a profound fascination and a sense of wonderment and yearn for more. de Grasse Tysons left me wanting something else to watch.

It really disappointed me that I felt the same thing.

A bit like movie remakes perhaps. For all the CGI and effects of the recent versions, I still prefer the Charlton Heston Planet of the Apes

I found some episodes riveting, especially "the clean Room" about lead in the environment, that was amazing! - Some were a bit mish mash, but I could usually find enough cool stuff to show my kids that got them exited about Daddy's photographs, so that was ok

Just watched all the DVD movies. I also have the originals and saw the original TV series and was totally inspired by Carl Sagan. About the only thing I liked in the new series was opening animation when the "ship of the imagination" goes into the SN remnant and out comes "Cosmos" but done in a banner so that the first and last letters come first CS Carl Sagan, nice reference.

The rest of it ..... em Good for someone who hasn't seen the old version. But for someone who was hoping that they would take it further it was rather under whelming.

I rather gather from the commentaries that it was fairly low budget so they were constrained with the CG stuff. I did like the cartoons, they were very stylish and got the story across well.

Hopefully it will do well enough for a second series and it will get better as it goes along.

I personally really, really enjoyed it. The first episode had me in tears I was so emotionally blown away. I got through the entire season in under two days, I was wrapped! But hey, each to their own I guess

I'm one of those people who gets really wrapped in the special effects because I can almost imagine myself coasting through the cosmos That's why I always get so excited about the planetarium shows because I feel like I could be floating amidst the stars.

Maybe that's my inner child at heart crying out for attention!

Coasting through the cosmos???? I must have missed all that... 99% of the time was on Earth, and all about environmentalism.

Not that I disagree, but it was NOT what I was expecting - he needed tomhit the ground running with a mix of Earth and of the solar system and the cosmos. We didn't get it IMHO.

Key word - "imagine"

There wasn't as much as I would have liked but if I'd had it my way, ALL the episodes would have been coasting through space what they did show was breathtaking though and the comment was more generalised to special effects in general. I'm a sucker for it when it comes to surfing through the Cosmos

Nice to see a revamp of COSMOS but Neil is no Carl and I do like Brian better.

Gee whiz and I thought the first episode was the worst one out of the whole lot of them .
I wanted to cry alright. From boredom .
Sorry Shell- couldn't resist .

Our fellow forum member Colin Legg had his timelapses shown towards the last 10 mins in episode 9.
And also our Alex Cherney a few eps after that (I think ep.12?).
What a tremendous honour hey.
