Looking at the manual if appears to be identical in function to the Synscan V3.35. Are there any details of what has changed or is it just the case and buttons?

Maybe the polar alignment and 3-star GOTOs actually work now Then again, I only use EQMOD so it matters little.

Did a quick comparison, v4 added a section in part 7 naming stars (7.4) and deleted 8.6 display temperature but otherwise identical.

Other difference on top of what Orion have noted.

- It now uses the same buttons as the Celestron Nexstar hand controllers.
- The speaker and thermometer have been removed.

Some new SkyWatcher telescopes have the V4, others still have V3.
V3 is no longer available as a spare from SkyWatcher Australia.

Regards,
Mike

There was a speaker? I do hope it still beeps when a GOTO slew is completed, etc?

Also, has the performance of the hand controller improved at all? For example, I would like much speedier scrolling through long lists, like Named Stars, that alone would make me want to upgrade to a V4 hand controller.

Cheers
Steffen.

I've tried it.

Mildly confusing for the first few minutes, as now it feels just like a Celestron controller, same buttons.

What will be interesting to see is how long they support new firmware for both versions, even though the software is the same, the actual firmware is different between the two.

Fairly sure the beeping is gone, at least in the tests I've done.
However I'll need to confirm that, I haven't had the chance to do any really through testing yet.

I didn't notice any performance difference, though I didn't think about it at the time.
I'll try to do some tests next week.

Any suggestions?
Anything specific you guys would like me to look at?
