Using a modified camera

Want to remove IR filter from Canon 500d but still want to use camera for everyday use with polarizing filters. Aparently it's all about understanding White Balance.
Any websites with gide to understanding?

Cheers
Carl

Carl you can still use your camera for normal imaging, and true white balance is on requirement of the process, however once you have removed the IR filter it has to be replaced with a clear glass one or similar to be able to achieve correct AF.

If not you are left with manual focus only, as the thickness of the removed filter will alter the ability to AF
