Mono camera advice please

Hi folks,

I'm looking for advice on going to a nice 2nd hand mono camera please.

I currently have an SBIG 8300c OSC and a William Optics FLT-110. I would like to produce wider field DSO images, so I guess that means either a camera with a bigger chip than the KAF 8300 or a shorter focal length 'scope.

As most of my imaging is done from the 'burbs, I'm thinking mono will be better in the long term as well.

But, I can't see myself coming up with a massive budget either. What can one get for say $2 - 4K that might suit my requirements?

Your thoughts and input welcome

Cheers

Andy

Sell the FLT and get a fsq106? Within budget, and you can get the fl reducer as well. If you want a wider field than that, go to camera lenses.
Cheers,
Andrew.

$4K would give you a range of bigger chipped cameras from Starlight Express.

Greg.

Hi gents, thanks for your input.

Can't see myself changing 'scopes in any great hurry, but a 2nd hand mono with a bigger chip seems do-able.
Thanks Greg. Which model canera and chip would you recommend as a good match for the FLT 110?

Cheers

I do most of my imaging from the burbs in narrowband. I have a QHY9 mono. CCD is just right, not too small, not too big. Good value for money,
