Meade 12" F8 ACF Reducer

Hi Guys,
I posted this thread in the Equipment forum, it should really be in this one.

I'm looking at getting a Reducer for my Meade 12" F8 ACF. I have tried the Optec Lepus 0.62x and it does work, but the vignetting on my Canon 600D with cold finger, is not good. I'm seriously thinking of trying an Astrophysics 27TVPH.

Any one out there (or knows someone), who is using one of the new Meade F8 AFC's with a focal reducer and getting good results, I would love to hear about it.

One waste enormous amounts of money in this hobby, trying things that don't work.

Cheers
Peter

I'm also interesting in the answer to this question but more so for a GSO RC telescope in the 10" to 12" range.

Hope someone can answer it!

I'm interested too - for the same reasons.

Could you post a pic from the setup which shows the vigneting?

TIA

Focal reducer found

Hey, people with ACF scopes, I found a discussion on CN about
FR for Meade ACF and it recommends;

AstroPhysics - CCD Telecompressor (CCDT67)

From cloudynights
""Hi all,
This is the reducer that will work well with Meade ACF scopes.

AstroPhysics - CCD Telecompressor (CCDT67)

There are others but this seems the best of the bunch.
The usual 6.3 from Meade/Celestron/Antares/Hirsch will not work.
Cheers,
Redbeard""

I use the AP CCDT67 with my Meade LX200 ACF 8".
Very happy, works a treat. I also use a Canon 600D hooked up to it.

My ACF is the F10 type, not F8.

Cheers

Thats cool thanks Evan.

Does the FR simply screw into the EOS T-piece?

Hi Glenn

Yes, it uses a 48mm thread. I use the EOS 48mm T-Ring, however, I tend to use a couple of spacers to get the right compression ratio.
I then slide the entire unit into a Baader Clicklock.

Cheers
