Comet 2013 A1 (Siding Spring) time lapse

A short timelapse of tonight's transit.
Taken using a slowly sinking mount. LOL It's always something isn't it. LOL

Well done - very nice work!

What actual time duration does this represent?

EDIT: Never mind - your video comments didn't show up on the YouTube Viewer on my phone, but I see "The first frame was taken at 11.18pm Australian EST, the last frame at 2.33am. "

Wow JJJ, excellent sequence. I especially love the little "thing" coming from NGC362, towards the comet, what was that? Satellite?

Co-incidentally took a a few shots myself last night, processing them now.

I guess that 'thing' was a hot pixel? The conspiracy theorists will be all over it, *proof* that globular clusters are actually in our solar system

But that's a super video, great you got the comet headed right past ngc 362, well done!

Well done JJJ, as expected the clouds rolled in at 0115 here, about 20 minutes after I went to bed and just before the comet passed the GC. Nice to see that someone got it.

Cheers

Ahh yes. I was trying to make it seem like the viewer was watching it in real time. None of this static, unrealistic stuff.

Thanks for looking everyone.
And if anyone can give me a heads up to a freebie program I can use to center the cluster in the timelapse I'd appreciate that. (I'm useless with scripts, so ppm center, or similar is out, and I can't get Castrator to work on Win8 )

jjj, Nebulosity will do it. It's not free, but also not that expensive - $US80. Save the individual aligned frames (not the stack) and run that through your video creator.
You can try before you buy but it will watermark the frames.

Maybe you could do it in PIPP (https://sites.google.com/site/astropipp/). I've used it to centre planetary stuff but I'm not sure how it'll go with a cluster.
