Bintel such a nice place.

I love going there.
Just came back with a few necessities☺ but they are so helpful I just had to take the time to praise them.

They rock. It's hard in these days of internet shopping for a bricks-and-mortar establishment to succeed. Luckily they are smart enough to know that service is their differentiating factor.

I have to agree. I recently placed an online order and had to follow up over the phone and found the service to be excellent. Also the order shipped and arrived extremely promptly. Very satisfied customer.

Yes, It's a pity they closed up before I started getting back into it. I'd only been there once or twice but found them very helpful. I guess the amateur astronomy field is a small one. but at least the Sydney store still exists.

Picking up my new 12” Skywatcher GoTo Dob tomorrow to take down the coast on the weekend to my holiday pad
Don managed to have it ready 3 weeks earlier than was quoted including some accessories
Bintel always go that little bit extra plus provide great support and technical advise on all systems and equipment
I always enjoy visiting their shop in Glebe , especially when Don pokes his head out the front , he’s always up for a good chat

I recently bought a Celestron C6 and SW HEQ5 from them, and their service was beyond excellent! The scope could come via Aus Post alright, but as the mount was too heavy they gave me a call straight away to discuss alternate delivery arrangements. And it is that attention to detail, promptness and customer focus that has me hooked with them!!!

Mines a little the other way.

I spoke to them about a Tele Vue Panoptic eyepiece.
They said 2 week backorder as the shipment was leaving the US end of that week. That was ok with me so I placed the order and paid.
That was nearly 7 weeks ago.

I now get, next week.
2 weeks later, next week and so on

Now I have trouble getting them to call me back.

I'm sure it will come but not fantastic customer service.

Hi Brendan
I expect they may be embarrassed that someone elses failure is reflecting badly on them.
And so being human may feel bad having to talk to you metely to pass on the excuses of their supplier I know I would.
Anyways thanks for posting your experience and I hope you dont have to wait much longer.
Alex

Brendan

Likewise my 24mm Panoptic has been on order for 5 weeks
Apparently the 24mm Panoptic has been out of stock due world wide demand for this product , there have been some reviews over the past 12 months on many sites and magazines ie: the whole world wants to get their hands on one at the moment ( even though this eye piece has been available for 10 years or more )
As Bintel is one of a hundred distributors world wide and we are a small market down under, we just have to simply wait until our orders are next in line for delivery
It’s out of Bintel’s hands
Don’t worry the wait will be worth it !!

I have no doubt that's the case and I would still buy from them again.
It's just if you say you're going to call a bloke back, bloody call him back

I called Bintel this morning and the shipment left the US last night. Should be here next week.

I look forward to having a look through it. The 13mm Nagler I bought is sublime

Brendan,
There’s a couple of key guys away ( including Don ) they are struggling this week answering calls , filling back orders etc It will be back to normal next week
I have the 27mm Panoptic and it’s absolutely magnificent in my 10” dob ( star clusters and nebulas are so impressive to view )
I sold my 10” dob a month ago and purchased a Skywatcher 12” GoTo Dob which I am assembling tomorrow at my semi dark site holiday house south coast nsw ( bummer, rain predicted for the next week or so but important for the farmers )
I have built up my eye piece collection over 2 or 3 years and they all Televue ( Panoptic , Delos, Ethos , Delite, Powermates , Dioptrx etc. ) A long term astronomical investment ( part of my kids inheritance )
Martin
