Easter weekend

500km from the city... check
no cloud cover ... check
full moon.... lol .. check

they should change Easter to a weekend with no moon! arrgh ... was more light pollution than in my backyard.

we did see a spectacular view of saturn though at 150x... i think i could have gone double that without much trouble. then 15 minutes later it was only average. amazing how it can change.

we split the alpha centauri double which was cool and looked at jewel box and of course orion nebula.

overall great!

Spent a couple of nights at a B&B up country Victoria. Spent a hour or so fully bathed in moonlight having a look round the sky with 20x80s before the cloud became enough to discourage me. Couldn't assess the darkness of the skies (Kyneton 2km away so not pitch black). But, check the photo out - you could have a bath and look at the sky from Crux to Orion! I didn't, but I did switch off the light and see what could be seen through the overhead windows!

Hi Mark3d & All,

Make that every weekend

We should stop making repayments on the damn thing and then perhaps they will come and repossess it and take it away. Either that or paint it black I say!

Sounds like you had a good time anyway -- Saturn almost never disappoints!

Best,
