New data, old dog

After a real headache last night with all sorts of issues from the mount power to the OAG slipping in and everything in between (started at 7pm, started imaging at 10pm!), I nabbed 1 hr of 10min subs of 7nm H-alpha with the SX H674 on NGC55.

Combining it with the MUCH larger SX M26C data was "fun". Fun like poking yourself in the eye with a stick fun. But, I got it done.

I did NOT take any calibration frames for the H-a, as by the time I had finished the hour, I was well and truly frustrated and it was already bloody cold, so I packed up with a big harumpf.

Anyways, it is what it is - 1hr H-a added to previously noisy, LP gradiented near-full moon colour data

IT looks good on astrobin jut need more darks very good refractor very good camera it should not be a problem.

(I felt the last revision muted the dynamic range too much, so brought it back up and retained the H-a colour)

Thanks Martin - this was literally just a total system test using the new scope and dual camera system. Works, so now to actually finish this image with full calibration etc.

Good progress Lewis. Background is a little on the light side me thinks. Ha regions have come out very nicely indeed. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Rod. I agree - but my latest blend of moonlight ruined RGB (revisions A and B) blended with 7nm H-alpha were either too blue and dark (E) or too light and noisy (F), so... Heck, it's 3 hrs RGB in 3/4 moonlight and 1 hr H-alpha....it needs a carp load more photons

But hey, go count the background galaxies - I stopped at 12
