Guidescope on Tak clamshell?

Hi all,
I will be getting an st80 soon, and i use a tak MT-160 for imaging. just wondering, my clamshell only has 1 1/4 inch hole at the top, so i am not sure if it will be sturdy enough to mount a guide scope on.

Peter Tan can make rings for your Mt-160 for a moderate price. then you can add a top plate to them and fix guidescope to that very rigidly. Likely worth the extra investment. Funny how one purchase always leads to the next with this hobby/obsession...
