Saturn and Mars, 10th July

Pretty nice conditions for views of Saturn and Mars on 10th July.

There are some fairly subtle features around the polar hexagon on Saturn; this is the far side of the planet from the big polar storm. Mars is very dusty of course, but the main canyons of Valles Marineris are standing out very prominently with bright dust (Ius to Candor Chasma is the long bright line), especially in IR. Olympus Mons and the big Tharsis volcanoes are rising, the south polar cap is partially clear of dust, and there's a bluish hood cloud near the north pole.

Hi Andy,

Fantastic images. Thanks for pointing out the cloud. I got a small hint of it on an image i took and assumed it was a processing artifact.
