Been reading through the upgrades ....some are good....but there is also a lot of cosmetics.

It would have been a lot nicer to see a proper multi-point alignment model similar to T-POINT, added which is much more useful that waving your device in the air to drive the mount.

If that’s where they earn most of their revenue, then that’s their commercial decision to make. If you don’t like their business model, vote with your wallet and don’t buy their product.

FWIW they’ve mucked around with the icons/buttons, I’m not convinced it’s for the better, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

There’s also an equipment database, for configuring the targeting circles.

That’s about all I’ve tripped over so far.

I shouldn't need to tell you it is self explanatory, but just to put your mind at rest,I am saying that they don't cater for users of other systems till a long time after pandering to the IOS users.
Apple aren't the only kids on the block.

Obviously wasn’t otherwise I wouldn’t have asked

Hardly pandering...as I said before, they clearly know their business model, and it’s up to them how they allocate their development resources. They’re in this game to make money, and if they have to get that money from a platform you choose to avoid, that’s too bad. We all make our choice and hand over our $$$

I’m sure there are comparable products on other platforms. But if you read my other post, it’s largely superficial with a few extra features.

Why is that Android users are so bitter that Apple exists and succeeds? Clearly the spirit of live and let live has been lost...

I haven’t looked in too much detail yet and not sure they didn’t have before, but they now have an ‘observe’ dropdown which allows viewing planning, creation or importation of viewing lists, random observation comments, and session viewing comments that can be saved and transported/shared via cloud to other devices. I find this attractive.
Also databases of lots more stars and galaxies as add-on extras, if you have the skies that allow seeing in the mag 15 range!

I don't give a toss about their business model, what I want is to have equal access to their product at the same time, not six months down the road after they have nearly exhausted the apple buyers who will purchase it.

There will be an Android version, but will take a few months, just like happened with SS5 and SS4.
But I have read about the differences with SS5 on the site and they are only marginal. I am not interested in voice recognition.

Yeah I've been using it for a few days now and there's not a lot to write home about.

Still not convinced by the user interface differences...for example, the Info and Centre functions used to be a single touch on the menu bar, now you have to touch twice as they're both in the Selection menu.

The object graphs are useful though.

And there's currently no way of getting your settings, lists, etc from SS5...other than by emailing them to yourself...

You could say "I don't see what all the fuss is about?"

A post on CN suggests you can use iTunes file sharing to transfer over observing lists etc. I've not tried it yet though. I found the "Session" feature useful when I used it.

That indeed worked.

I downloaded SS 6 on the ipad and copied the settings of the Android SS 5 into the 'documents' folder of SS6 in iTunes.
But you have to put all files from all subdirs of '/storage/emulated/0/SkySafari 5 Pro' folder in Android in one folder (the 'documents' itself) on iOS.

But to me it appears more like Skysafari 5.1 rather than 6.0, it is just a minor update.

Sky Safari 6 upgrade ?

I have the new SF6, has anyone found where you set the FOV display options ? in SF5 it was under telescope 'Display' but it has disappeared now as has the telescope equipment option. The other thing is this new Livesky which it looks like you have to pay extra for but it's not really explained what it is or what you lose if you don't use it.

Ignore last post regarding the FOV display & equipment.

These settings are now available under the new SS6 Observe Toolbar Icon on the main screen.

Still not sure what LiveSky does though.
