Nitty Griitty

G'day, Does any body know of a source, as in a website or page here or anywhere that explains in real detail the workings of a telescope, the effects of having convex and or concave elements together etc.
I seem to keep running into kiddy explanations like the primary lens directs the light to the eyepiece etc....
I want to read up on why it happens and how each type of lens does what it does in fine detail.
thank you
Peter
