The heq5 handles the weight easily the only thing that stuffs things up is a bit of wind, but fortunately up here if its clear its usually calm as well.

I think that the mount guides a bit better with a bit of weight on top, and the pier does make things a lot more stable as well.

The CPC 925 When cooled or insulated is hard to best in great seeing ..but normally everyday my 130mm TS Triplet (FPL53 GLASS) gives Razor sharp views besting the C925 but with less resolution and only good on deepsky at 130mm...Powered by Televue and Takahashi EPs.
MOUNT pics soon.

Bigjoe.

Well, in suburban Sydney the main targets are lunar & planetary and I have to keep it portable, so it’s a big mak(MK91) on an altaz tracking mount (AZEQ6) for me. It’s the next best thing to a similar aperture refractor which I couldn’t possibly lift, let alone afford or house.

The C11/ NEQ6/ Spectra-L200 set-up for spectroscopy is the "work machine" and the SM60 DS on the ED80/ HEQ5 is for the solar majic!

Tak FS-60 OTA/ Tak Space Boy mount/Tak FC-M tripod

Tak FS-60 OTA/ Tak Space Boy mount/Tak FC-M tripod is so light and easy to set up. The FS-60 has four different tubes converting it into an FS-60C, FS-60CB, FS-60CSV and FS-60Q. This enables it to be used over a wide range of modes from landscape, wide field and planetary viewing plus focal ratios from F5.9 (f4.2 with reducer) to f10 (with 1.7x extender). Needless to say the optics are very sharp and contrasty, a great little scope. The Space Boy mount is a 1991 model and has the normal sidereal rate plus moon and solar rates. It can be used in Alt/Az mode and fitted with various cameras.
