Rcw 60

Largely overlooked by the nearby running chicken, I find this an interesting FOV.

4.5 hrs Ha, 1 hr each RGB, STXL-11002 BRC-250 scope.
High resolution image.

Very cool Steven! Pleased someone else is paying attention to the RCW catalog. Certainly has some pleasing gems listed. Is the pink hue due to reflection nebulosity or the Ha blend? Impressive details, I'm just not too sure of the colour. I don't think I'll get time this season to get to this target. I'll take more of the obscure stuff thanks!

Hello Jase,

I've been an avid fan for imaging RCW objects for a few years.
There is a fair bit of blue in the RGB alone image.

I avoid blending the Ha channel but use a Ha mask over the HaRGB image to reduce the midtones so as to cut back on the salmon colour.

RCW 60 redone

Used a custom made histogram shaping curve to extract further faint nebular detail in the background as well as using a lightness reduction mask in PixInsight curves to improve colour and preserve dark nebula detail in the image.
