Monday night Saturn 250515

Hello all

Quite happy with this shot of Saturn taken last night at about 917pm LT, considering its altitude of only about 40 degrees.

C14 @ 8000mmFL, ASI 120MM + Astronomik typeII RGB, EQ8
Approx 1500 frames/channel.

R was good but G & B channels were quite poor though...

A little noisy overall - Ill have to get more frames to work with.
Comments welcome.

Regards
Maurice

Nice processing Maurice, as always.

So I guess you had cloud too a few days ago when the seeing was supposed to be really good?

Cheers,
Stefan

Thanks Stefan. Yes, I tried to get out a few nights earlier, but by the time I got going there was a fair bit of cloud/fog around.

I had a look at your shot from a few days ago - great looking image - and saw your comment about Trevor's data re the C ring.
I have not seen his shot, but I've attached a crop of my R channel data showing some brightening of this area about 1/3 the way across & a darker 'ring' closer to the B ring...probably an artifact of my processing?

cheers

Thanks Trevor.
Has there been any news regarding your C-ring data?

Cheers

Hi Maurice,

I just found this.
Very interesting, I can't see the spots on my monitor but I can see the bright and dark ring detail within C and I don't think it is processing artefact. It is very similar to what is on my image.

Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Stefan
I've attached a solarized version of the image which hopefully shows the spots better. What do you think?

I can see them now. I think the only way to say whether they are real features would be to show them on a second capture with a bit of a time difference and see if they move when blinking the two images.
