APGTX130 meets Orion

I guess there are two crimes against astro-imaging here, another M42

..........and the fact I've been using my AP130 Starfire GTX as a solar telescope for the last 2 years.

Finally... the skies cleared...the planets aligned and I decided to attach both my STX16803 and AP Field flattener to the Starfire and see what this puppy could produce.

I should not have been surprised to see such the trapesium nicely resolved and perfect stars to the very edge of the 16803...but it seems once again AP have produced an absolute gem of an instrument.

The result is here
50% res to keep it web friendly

If the weather holds...might even do some colour

Pretty cool M42. You've got too many toys.

Sweet!

Gotta love APO images with their tight stars.

Great, now I want an AP130GTX but then again, I already did so you are off the hook!

Greg.

Nice Peter!
Did you see this APOD yesterday?

Now it would be totally awesome if you pointed that rig at a cool, new target instead ...

I've still got my AP155 with 4" field flattener in its case....not that one can really have too many toys..

Ta, but the Orion fly-through might just a little too tricky for yours truly....
