Vixen GP DC power plug specs

Hi all, just wondering if anyone might be able to tell me what the specs of that 12V plug with the central pin are? I'd like to rig something up but apparently that 12V plug is really exotic or something. Jaycar guy looked at me with some degree of bafflement today as I showed him the plug I've got (the one that's on the battery compartment thingy that comes with the GP) and kept repeating that they didn't stock it and knew nothing about it etc. Almost as if that design shouldn't even exist... bizarre really. It's a 12V DC plug and they sell 12V DC equipment. Surely not that much of a stretch to think they might be able to help...

How odd! All my old Vixen stuff (including the original battery pack) is, and has been, just a normal DC plug. 5.5mm outer, 2.1mm centre pin.

I used to use an old Vixen Polaris and the hand controller had a standard 2.1mm plug. I cannot remember the polarity but I did have to get a new hand controller after getting it wrong once. My Vixen hand controller was not polarity protected so if unsure check the inside first if possible.

I found the following links:

https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/3...-for-vixen-gp/

and

https://www.vixenoptics.com/category-s/117.htm

Note one plug option is centre negative and the other is centre positive (plus).

Hi Mirko

I found an old Vixen North America Catalogue in my archives and here is a screen copy of the DC Plug for the GP and GP-DX Mounts.

I have circled the plug in red.

Cheers

Dennis

The DC jack for the Sphinx/SXW and SXD/SXD2/SXP/SXP2 are not commonly found. I am thinking of ordering in a batch from China

Mirko, SXP has a different plug. I can't remember the specs but the centre pin is thinner. I think this is what you need from Jaycar.

Don't forget to check the polarity when you wire it up! Also worth double checking the barrel length is the same.
