Carlton is correct but you will need to hold the power button down for about 6 seconds to power down. Wait for a few seconds then press again as for normal start up and it should reboot as usual.

Which operating system is it? Older Win versions may go into a basic system config.

Thanks guys, but the thing is it wont even turn off.
The lights are on telling me that there is power, but i can hold the button down till the cows come home and there is no change.
I am going to unplug it take out the battery and leave it for a while and then see what happens,

What make/model of laptop do you have. Many have different ways of flushing the system back to normal. ie Lenovo Pin hole under the laptop. Others clear CMOS etc. Some info would be good if you still having the issue. Regards

Thanks Guys, and Marc you are a real treasure.

Anyway i did remove the battery and left it for a short while, replaced it and it fired up as normal, a bit slow, but that is normal as well for this Lappy.

Thanks for your assistance

Leon
