What Mod is that?

Need some practical guidance folks. I'm buying a 300D that has been mod'd and the Russian hack applied. Trouble is neither the seller nor I know just what 'mod' has been done to this camera. Short of pulling it apart, is there any way of determining whether an substitute IR filer has been put into the camaea or just the original filter removed?

Take normal, day picture.. if it turns predominantly reddish-pink then you do not have IR filter any more.
If autofocus works OK, then you have glass instead of IR filter, if it does not work, IR filter was removed.
Russian hack is new firmware, and it is reversible. It provides almost the same functionality as Canon 20A

Bojan has given some good advice.
Just check that the "custom white balance" is un-checked... the previous owner may have used this function to get a better picture ( suppress the extra red response.)
