Celestron CGX compatible ac power adapter

Hi folks.

Did a quick search here looking for an AC adapter for the Celestron CGX mount. Celestron don't give very many detailed specifications on the adapter they provide for this mount so I'm looking for any information on plug inner and outer diameters, voltages, watts etc.

Model numbers of specific compatible adapters most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Phil.

What? The CGX comes with a long 12V cig lighter type plug on one end and the standard screw in 12v screw on plug end on the scope side. Simplist solution for you is to just buy a Bintel AC to 12V adaptor, which outputs about 7amps, at the Cig plug receptacle. I have been using one for four years with my CGX, no problems.

Your going to need to use the standard supplied CGX power cable if you ever take it out to the field anyway, so why not use it all the time with a standard cig adaptor when you want to AC power the mount?

BTW my CGX manual specifically states that the mount requires a supply that provides at least 12V 4amps, and that a 12V 5amp power supply is available from Celestron which includes the threaded barrel connector. The mount will draw what it needs, so a higher amp rated supply is fine to use.

You cannot have looked too hard:

Thanks for the info Glen.

Yes, as I stated, I saw that item and didn't find any specifications listed. Nor do I want to pay the $179 AUD asking price.

However, your other suggestion re. the PowerTech adapter is suitable. Thanks again for your input.
