Beautiful night!

It has been a long time between drinks with bushfire recovery taking up a heap of time since February but I finally got out again overnight.

What a night, the Grus quartet, silver coin, 47 tuc, triffid, lagoon, wild duck, others as the fancy took us and a farewell viewing of Saturn for the year. Not to mention a dozen or more bright meteors.

Completely disorganised viewing but a very satisfying night though the faint stuff would have been better if we did not keep trashing our adaptation looking at a laptop, my observing mate was there for AP after moonset which is what got me out there.

We finally stopped so he could pinch my eyepiece heater for his guidescope, there was ice all over my gear by then and it was taking the heater on full blast to keep my corrector plate clear.

See Melbourneites, there is hope! I hope others had a good night too.
