Carina Nebula just 25 x 2min subs QHY268c and Lextreme

After nearly 3 weeks of solid cloud a break last night finally to get some new light with my QHY268c (equiv to ASI2600MC) camera and L extreme.

Was having some guiding issues and ended up chucking more that half the frames so ended up with just 25 x 2min subs.

Thought I'd do a quick stack in DSS and process in Startools and final tweak in PS. Wasn't expecting much from 50min but frankly I've already amazed at the level of detail possible with the this camera and esp the Lextreme filter on this object - it's only 30deg above horizon and smack bang in my Bortle 7 Brisbane skyglow dome.

With the QHY here as there's not a lot of bright stars that would saturate I chose High Gain mode and gain at 60 which brings read noise down.

With any luck I'll get some more data on this this week.

comments and advice welcome.

Nice amount of detail captured considering you only used 50m worth of subs!

Awesome, I presume it is Askar, right? Once I graduate from childish mistakes I am thinking about something like that next.

Thanks Bohdan, actually this was the espirit 100ed so 550mm focal length as opposed to the 400 of the Askar.

Oh really? - for some reason I wouldn't expect Carina to fit into Espirit - I stand corrected

depends which one of course... :-) no problem with the espirit 80ed... a little tight with my 100, the 120 or 150 would only show a portion
