I did a double take on this myself. I do have RHA data on M78 and its much more widefield. The CDK doesn't make particularly pronounced diffraction spikes, usually on bright stars only. But yes it had me looking twice on this point!

Yes perhaps a bit too much purple. Its a funny area colourwise and I do think there is some purple in the area.
